Fishing Trips in Mongolia
Our Fishing Trips in Mongolia are adventurous! You’ll discover the wild rivers of northwestern Mongolia, under the expert guidance of our expedition leader, who will take you to the best fishing spots in Mongolia’s northernmost province, which shares a border with Siberian Russia to the north, and Tuva to the west – truly the BEST fishing trips in Mongolia!
This is a wonderful opportunity to take a relaxing, peaceful journey through some of Mongolia’s most impressive scenery, in the far northwest. Khuvsgul Province is Mongolia’s northernmost province, and borders Russia. Although it often rains here in the summer, this only adds to the lushness of the scenery, which consists of crystal-clear lakes and rivers, taiga Siberian forest of larch and pine, and rich, green meadows. Enjoy the tranquility of fishing in some of the world’s most beautiful lakes, and camp under the unrivalled blue skies of Mongolia.
Our Fishing Trips in Mongolia are expedition-style and will be led by our highly qualified local guide, who has experience working in the area, and who can take you to some of its best, little-known, secret fishing spots. He is qualified in many outdoor sports and is an experienced excursion leader, as well as an expert fishing guide. He will take you downriver by boat, enabling you to fully appreciate the stunning landscapes.
Fish the Shishkid and Tengis rivers, a fly-fisher’s paradise, where your guide will be able to direct you to the best spots for Siberian salmon, Amur river pikes, burbots, lenok, grayling and taimen. The taimen is known as the ‘giant trout of Asia,’ and can grow up to 6 feet! Get creative making those flies as taimen have been known to eat small rodents and ground squirrels! Nomads has a policy of releasing all taimen caught – after you have captured the big moment on film of course! – in order to preserve this extraordinary sport for future generations. We also use barbless hooks. The elusive ‘big catch’ is just a cast away… so be sure to book our Fishing Trips in Mongolia!

Today you will take an internal flight to Moron, the center of Khuvsgul Province, either in the morning or in the afternoon depending on domestic flights. On arrival, you will be met by our local staff and vehicles, and driven to the Beltes River about 100 km away. This river is rich with Khiiruus. Today We’ll Overland by Jeep to Reach the Destination of our Fishing Trips in Mongolia – The Darkhad Valley
After breakfast we will drive towards Alag Tseel River by crossing two big mountain passes, “Toim” and “Ulgii” and reach to the Darkhad valley. The mountains around the valley reach above 3000m, and the area is a paradise for bird watchers because of the number of lakes (more than 300). The abundance of birds: ducks; geese; swans; cranes; curlews; heron; snipe; and many other birds will increase your pleasure while you fish there. This small and slow flowing river is also rich in graylings, and lenoks, as well as surprisingly large taimen. It is ideally suited for fly-fishing, and the views are incredible. We will camp here as well.
Home to Our Fishing Trips in Mongolia is Darkhad Valley’s Khusryn Am of Alag Tseel River

The shishkid river is found in one of the most beautiful angling grounds of Mongolia. It flows through mountainous woodland and forms numerous islets. Its waters are the home of abundant lenok, grayling and trophy-sized taimen.
