Our Canoeing Tours in Mongolia Starts with a Domestic Flight towards Western Mongolia
You will be transferred to the airport for the morning flight to Ulgii. This is the centre of Bayan Ulgii Province, the only Muslim province in Mongolia . About 90% of its inhabitants are of Kazakh descent, having arrived from the western part of China in the 1800s after the Mongolian Government gave them some land. The flight takes 4 hours including a stopover for fuel. Your guide will accompany you on the flight. On arrival at the local airport our staff will meet you and drive you out of town for lunch. After lunch we will drive to our first camp site of the beginning of Tsagaan Us River. The drive is about 250 km.
Today We’ll Ease into our Canoeing Tours in Mongolia to Refine Skills
After a relaxed breakfast we will start with easy canoeing down the Tsagaan Us River which provides a good opportunity for refining canoeing skills. Overnight will be at the north east of Lake Khoton.
Today Our Canoeing Tours in Mongolia Will Take Us to Zagastain River
Today we will reach to the confluence of Tsagaan Us River canoeing by the right side of Khoton Lake. Khoton and Khurgan lakes are connected by Sirgaal channel and both lakes are fed by many rivers and streams that originate in the Altai Mountains and have icy, crystal and white clear water. The landscape around the lakes is very picturesque. The surrounding peaks are snow capped and their foothills are the green valleys filled with flowers.
Canoeing Tours in Mongolia – Lake Khurgan
This two days of canoeing will find us complete about 20 km. On the second day we will have our lunch on the big island called Agvash. We will camp at the northern side of the lake.
Canoeing Tours in Mongolia – Khovd River
Today we will wake up to the voices of singing birds. After breakfast we will continue canoeing down the lake for about 7-8 km to reach the Khovd River which originates from the glaciers of Altai Mountains and it’s length is about 516 km. As we get close to this mighty river the stream and speed at certain points increases significantly and we encounter the class of IV and V rapids. But it will be perfect for canoeing. You will canoe about 140 km in between high rock cliffs and endless mountains to reach the ending point at the Ulaan-Khus River.
Today Return Flight to Ulaanbaatar
Today we will drive into Ulgii and take the local flight back to Ulaanbaatar. On arrival we will be met and you will be transferred to your hotel.

Tented accommodation while on trek, three meals a day, English-speaking guide, transfers, camel or horse hire where specified, support staff including drivers, horse/camel men and camp assistants.
International transportation, travel insurance, visas, departure tax, alcoholic drinks, gratuities, items of a personal nature.
It is the responsibility of the client to be fully covered with travel and medical insurance while traveling in Mongolia.
Upon request, single supplement in the countryside can be provided at the additional cost. In case, single accommodation in ger camps was not provided the amount would be calculated based on the missing nights and reimbursed.

Should circumstances beyond our control, such as the imposition of quarantine restrictions, any changes of domestic flight or train schedules, require a change of itinerary, we will inform your agent and propose an equivalent itinerary. Again, Nomads cannot take over the responsibility for the Airlines or the National Train Company. The traveler is responsible for having proper travel documents, such as a valid passport, proper visa and the necessary passport pictures.
