Supported Camping Tours
The heart piece of our tours to remote locations, into true wilderness, is the kitchen truck and its crew – the backbone of our our Mongolia Supported Camping Tours. The driver knows his truck and every corner of the country, arranges the camp set up and happily helps the cook to prepare the food. The cook is carefully shopping for every trip, planning the meals, packing the truck and once out on tour preparing delicious food every day for both, the clients as well as the crew.
The truck is a vehicle that we built for that purpose over the last few decades – which makes our Mongolia Supported Camping Tours truly unique. It’s perfectly suitable for Mongolia’s countryside with its variety of roads, manages mud, sand, rocks, pot holes, and crosses deep rivers. Next to giving transport to the crew, it enables us to take along many things that make live amidst of nowhere comfortable and enjoyable. A toilet tent with proper seat, a shower tent, a mess tent with chairs or benches and tables, giving shade or warmth, as we travel through extreme climate. And it allows us to keep our campsites clean, as there is abundant capacity to carry back all our trash.
But not everywhere the truck can reach. Therefor at times, when the road finishes, we have to pack up and load the more essential part of the luggage and food on pack animals or animal pulled carts. The animals are preordered and their number determined by the size of the group and the number of days that we stay away from the truck.
During the days of being supported by the kitchen truck the crew is considerably smaller then when using pack animals, the daily packing up and unloading of animals is a lot of work, so it is to pull the animals along, especially as the paths would usually be steep and narrow, otherwise the truck would have come along. All that needs to be considered before leaving the city as food needs to be brought along accordingly.
