Small Group CULTURE
B2b & B2c Services in Mongolia
Services for groups we usually would sell through our partners, travel companies abroad. Such companies develop their programs with our help, suitable for their specific interest group. That can be trekking, mountain biking, bird watching or comfortable touring, cultural and educational tours.
With those companies we like to build long term relationships, based on mutual support and trust. We do whatever we can, to make every single departure to be a success, any challenges we work very hard to resolve.
We do have additionally a large number of what we call FDD, Fixed Date Departure programs, that individual clients as well as companies are invited to join in, book themselves or a client on a specific departure that we organize for that group of like-minded travelers.
More and more travelers are coming to Mongolia on their own. They are welcome to contact us directly or through agencies that work with us in Mongolia. In any case, we offer them services and programs, developed to their interests. Mongolia is very suitable for individuals and small private groups: Anyhow lots of the travel has to happen in off-pavement suitable vehicles, which usually would have 5 to 7 seats maximum. And as within our company we have the emphasis on remote destinations, camping can be organized very pleasant in small groups. We would always offer meal and camp set up services, as that way the clients can concentrate on the beautiful places they visit and the wonderful people they meet, rather than to focus on meeting basic needs. But if they prefer, we have offer for that too, our packages for self-arranged travel are best for that.
One of the attractions of Mongolia is the Rail connection from the Baikal to Beijing. The arguably most beautiful part of the railroad from Moscow to Beijing is the journey around Baikal Lake and through Mongolia, therefor many travelers would choose that part of the journey. Stop overs for a couple of days are something Nomads is happy to offer services for, especially the Tuul Riverside Lodge has attractive packages for that.
When Nomads started in the mid1990s, there were very view cars and busses available. As Mongolia had opened recently, it became possible to import the vehicles that we needed, so we started to have busses that we could use during the season for our travelers, but having to store and maintain all year round. As the travel season is only about 100 days a year, we found other usage for them during the remaining time, taking children to school on behalf of ISU International School of Ulaanbaatar. This work we are proud to have done for over a decade already. Though our busses are not all new, we maintain them well, keep them fully functioning and clean.
Though Mongolia has made it in the past years easier for travelers to come, there are still some passport holders that need to obtain visa prior their journey to Mongolia and for that possibly need support, invitation letters etc.
Sometimes it is possible to receive your visa at the airport on arrival. That is offered especially to travelers that arrive from a countries with no Mongolian consulate, but sometimes can be used by other travelers too. Whenever needed, Nomads is happy to help with such arrangements.
About half of the Mongolian population lives in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, a big city that grew over the last quarter of a century almost five-fold, becoming a modern city.
To sight-see such a big city is naturally a challenge of choice, different visitors have different interests. We try to offer our clients a say in what to include in their city sightseeing program, may it be shopping, museums, art, entertainment, religious centers, food or any special interest. Those would be enquired and suggested during a correspondence process.
Having the capability, sometimes even the fitting spare parts and tires, brought up the thought that we might be able to help some of the globetrotters that come along with their vehicles and need help. Trucks like Mercedes NG 1117 4×4, Magirus Deutz 170D11, Unimog 1300 or the Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 are common vehicles for mobile homes. As we operate them for our trips and maintain them under Mongolian conditions over many years, we are able to help others that have problems with them. Those trucks use 14.00R20 or 14.5R20 tires that we usually have on stock and are sometimes ok to sell on, if that helps a traveler to be back on his way.
Another interesting vehicle that Nomads uses is a piranha 9 Airboat, made in Irkutsk by a small innovative company to take fishermen up small streams into inaccessible areas of Siberia. With this boat we can guarantee constant access to our lodge, the Tuul Riverside Lodge. Depending on the time of the year either the River Tuul or some of the streams that flow into it, make it otherwise impossible to get there. Though our trucks usually still can wade through the river, sometimes the water does get too high and more importantly its actually not a good to drive through rivers as water gets polluted and the river bed damaged. Additionally its costs quite a lot of maintenance, water tend to end up in the differentials and bearings, requiring new lubrication and seal rings. To cross the mountain pass causes as well damage, in the wetlands during rainy season tires leaves deep cuts in the vegetation. The boat can cope with low as well as high water levels, does let no drop of oil into the water and enables the visitors to see some wonderful river life, especially families of ducks, sometimes cranes, black storks, beavers and owls.
